About Sherly Ellis
Sheryl Ellis serves as the Service Coordinator for Parenting Matters’ Chosen Families program, supporting adoptive families as they navigate the unique joys and challenges of building strong, lasting connections.
With more than 21 years of experience working with children and families, she brings extensive expertise in child and adolescent development, infant mental health, family counseling, pediatric medical trauma, and trauma‑informed care.
She holds master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Counseling and Developmental Psychology and is currently pursuing a PhD in Developmental Psychology.
A Certified Child Life Specialist, Sheryl is also trained in trauma‑focused cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral play therapy, solution‑focused therapy, and person‑centered therapy.
Her compassionate, research‑informed approach helps families feel understood, supported, and empowered.
