What’s this program about?
ACTIVE Parenting Plus is a combination of 10 group and 5 in-home family sessions designed to meet your parenting interests and needs. Group Sessions are held in various locations in Manatee County. They are a fun and social way to help with the day-to-day issues of parenting. Topics include temperament, development, communication, discipline strategies, parenting styles and others that the group may want addressed. Family Sessions are individual, personalized meetings with your Parenting Educator and can be held in the comfort of your home or another location of your choice.
The groups are offered locally in neighborhood centers or schools.
How will it benefit my family?
You will better understand your children’s actions and unlock the “secrets” to gaining their cooperation. You will also be able to spend time with other parents to discuss and problem solve common challenges. With one-on-one personal coaching, you will develop additional skills that work for your family’s unique needs.
How does it work?
Parents participate in 10 weekly, 90 minute group sessions where a group of up to 12 parents discuss general parenting topics and topics parents request. In addition, every two weeks, parents and their children are able to meet either in their home (or another location of their choice) for 1-hour with the group parenting educator to work on issues specific to their family.
