Suncoast Remake Learning Days has become one of those events that reminds us just how powerful simple moments of connection can be. This spring, Parenting Matters was proud to host four Musical Motion classes as part of the 2026 celebration, joining hundreds of organizations across the region in creating joyful, hands-on learning experiences for children and families.
Now in its fifth year, Suncoast Remake Learning Days continues to grow across Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota counties. Supported by The Patterson Foundation and hosted by The Suncoast Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, this year’s festival featured more than 380 free events designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and family engagement.
For Parenting Matters, the experience was about much more than music and movement.
“What I loved most was meeting families who had never heard of Parenting Matters before,” shared Ashley, one of the Musical Motion hosts. “They found us through Remake Learning Days, came to class, and now they’re continuing to attend regularly scheduled Musical Motion sessions. It opened the door for families to connect with resources and support they may not have known existed.”
That ripple effect — one class leading to ongoing connection and support — is exactly why opportunities like this are so important.
Another especially memorable class took place at the Senior Friendship Centers, where multiple generations came together in one room to sing, dance, and learn side by side. Stephanie, who hosted the class, recalled one young participant who naturally stepped into the role of helper throughout the morning.
“He made sure the seniors had everything they needed,” she shared. “He handed out egg shakers, scarves, and finger puppets, and even danced with some of the seniors during the music activities. It was such a sweet reminder that connection goes both ways.”
The class became more than an early learning activity. It became a moment of shared joy between generations — the young and the young at heart.
These experiences reflect what Suncoast Remake Learning Days is all about: learning happening everywhere, through relationships, creativity, and community. They also reflect the heart of Musical Motion itself — creating welcoming spaces where children and caregivers can build confidence, strengthen relationships, and experience the joy of learning together.
Community-wide partnerships like these ensure more families are finding support, more children are building early learning skills, and more moments of connection are turning into lasting impact.
