Cheryl Robinson joined Parenting Matters’ team of parenting educators in 2019 with a background as a clinical psychologist. She has dedicated her entire career assisting adults and children in finding a healthy perception of themselves and strengthening their relationships so they can begin knowing themselves as happy, whole, and safe.
In today’s episode, she explains the importance of “timing-in” when you really want a “time-out”. She explains that while time-outs do stop immediate behavior, they can also cause a child to feel abandoned, rejected, and confused. Time-ins can help regulate children’s emotions and help them understand moral values like right from wrong.
