PCI Communications–A Family-Owned Business with a Big Heart

At Parenting Matters, our work is made possible thanks to the support of dedicated community partners who believe in strengthening families. This month, we are thrilled to highlight PCI Communications, a family-owned printing and publishing company that has been walking alongside us for nearly 15 years.

Recently, we had the privilege of touring PCI Communications with longtime friend and supporter, Valerie Long. Valerie has a deep history with Parenting Matters—she first connected with us through the Exchange Club, later joined our marketing committee, and even served as our Board Chair. While her Board term has ended, Valerie, her family, and PCI Communications continue to champion our mission as a Compassionate Company sponsor, proving that partnership doesn’t end when a term does.

Walking through the PCI facility, you immediately feel the warmth of a family-run business that prioritizes relationships over volume. “We’re not a huge print shop,” Valerie shared, “but we have strong connections in the local community. We love being able to support charitable organizations with the publications they need.” PCI specializes in printing and publishing for local residential communities—particularly 55+ neighborhoods—while also helping nonprofits bring their messages to life through brochures, newsletters, and special publications.

One of their most notable contributions is printing the Next Gen Magazine, which provides families with valuable information about local resources. Through this work, PCI helps ensure that parents and caregivers can easily find the support they need—a mission that aligns beautifully with Parenting Matters.

When asked what drew her to our cause, Valerie’s answer was simple yet powerful: family. As a mom of three, she understands firsthand the importance of having resources, tools, and guidance available for parents. “You don’t always know you need a little help until you hear some good tips and have someone to walk alongside you,” she reflected. “Every community should have a place like Parenting Matters—where families can ask questions, get support, and feel empowered.”

Beyond their professional expertise, PCI Communications has found personal and business benefits from being a Compassionate Company. Valerie shared that the partnership has helped them meet amazing people, make meaningful community connections, and showcase their business at Parenting Matters events. “It’s rewarding to know that by sharing our resources, we’re helping make a difference,” she said.

You’ll even see Valerie and her team out in the community at our events! They’ll be returning as “celebrity bartenders” at this year’s Sangarita Showdown, a role they’ve taken on with joy and enthusiasm.

We’re incredibly grateful to PCI Communications for their years of dedication, both behind the scenes and in the spotlight. Their story is proof that when businesses invest in their community, everyone benefits—families thrive, connections grow, and the local impact multiplies.

If your business is looking for a way to give back while gaining meaningful exposure, we invite you to join us as a Compassionate Company. Together, we can build a stronger future for children and families.
