In just one day, something remarkable happened.
During this year’s Giving Challenge, our community showed up with energy, generosity, and a shared belief in strengthening families. What began as a 24-hour campaign quickly became something much bigger, an outpouring of support that more than doubled our original goal.
By the end of the Challenge, Parenting Matters raised nearly $40,000, including matching funds from The Patterson Foundation. Every dollar represents a decision to invest in parents, children, and the future of our community.
But the numbers only tell part of the story.
This year’s Giving Challenge was filled with moments that reflected the heart behind the mission. Families shared their experiences through powerful testimonial videos. Board members and supporters stepped up to lead peer-to-peer fundraising efforts, reaching into their own networks to expand our impact. Community partners joined us for pop-up Giving Stations, creating space for connection and conversation. And yes—a big pink flamingo made more than a few memorable appearances along the way.
Behind all of it was a simple, powerful truth: people care deeply about families in our community.
That collective support will have a direct and lasting impact. The funds raised will help Parenting Matters continue delivering programs that equip parents with practical tools, strengthen relationships, and create more stable, nurturing home environments for children. It means more families receiving personalized support through our Parent Partner Program, more opportunities for early learning and connection through Musical Motion, and more resources reaching parents when they need them most.
For many families, this support is the difference between feeling overwhelmed and feeling equipped. It’s the difference between navigating challenges alone and having someone walk alongside them.
We are especially grateful to Community Foundation of Sarasota County for their leadership in making this year’s Giving Challenge such a success, and for creating a platform that brings our community together in such a meaningful way.
