Sometimes the strongest community connections begin with a simple idea: meet people where they are.
That philosophy is at the heart of MCR Health, a nonprofit healthcare system serving families throughout Manatee, Sarasota, and DeSoto counties. Parenting Matters Executive Director Katie Becker recently sat down with Aarti Lalwani, MCR Health’s Chief Impact Officer and one of the newest members of the Parenting Matters Board of Directors, to talk about MCR’s work and the people behind it.
For Aarti, access to healthcare is about more than simply having a doctor nearby. It is about recognizing that every patient and every family comes through the door with different circumstances.
“It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. Healthcare is different for everyone.”
In 2025 alone, MCR Health served more than 106,000 patients, providing care that ranges from primary and pediatric services to specialties including cardiology and pulmonology. But what stands out in Aarti’s description of the organization is the emphasis on making quality care available regardless of a person’s circumstances.
“Everybody deserves that quality care,” she shared.
That commitment extends beyond the walls of MCR’s health centers. Through community engagement, outreach, partnerships, and events, the organization works to build relationships with the communities it serves and connect people with the resources they need.
The conversation also offered an opportunity to get to know Aarti beyond her role at MCR. As one of Parenting Matters’ newest board members, she brings both her professional experience and a shared belief in the importance of supporting families.
We are grateful to have partners like MCR Health in our community and leaders like Aarti who believe that stronger communities are built when organizations work together, listen to families, and make support easier to access.
