Coming Together for Families: Highlights from Our Community Coffee Chat
Earlier this month, Parenting Matters hosted a special Coffee Chat with guest speaker Dr. Laurie Breslin, Superintendent of the School District of Manatee County. The conversation—Protecting Florida Families and Raising the Next Generation of Leaders—brought together local leaders, educators, and community members for a candid discussion about the challenges and opportunities facing families today.
Dr. Breslin shared valuable insights into how our schools are working to nurture both academic success and emotional well-being among students. She emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between schools, families, and community organizations to ensure that children have every opportunity to thrive.
While the discussion focused on education, the deeper purpose of the morning went beyond learning—it was about connection. Parenting Matters created this gathering as a way to bring together people who care deeply about strengthening families in our community. Whether through volunteering time, sharing professional expertise, or providing financial support, every person in the room has the potential to play a role in helping families grow stronger and children reach their full potential.
For more than 30 years, Parenting Matters has worked alongside parents, schools, and partners to build a community where all children are safe, supported, and set up for success. But we can’t do it alone.
As Dr. Breslin reminded us, “It takes all of us working together to make sure our families have what they need.”
Now, we invite you to be part of that shared effort.
- Share your time by volunteering or serving on a committee.
- Lend your talents to help us expand our reach and impact.
- Invest your treasures to ensure that critical parenting programs remain available for families who need them most.
When we come together, we create lasting change for families—and for generations to come.
