Building Stronger Families Together: Parenting Matters & Mothers Helping Mothers
At Parenting Matters, we believe that strong families are the foundation of a thriving community. That’s why we are proud to partner with Mothers Helping Mothers, an organization dedicated to providing families with essential resources, education, and support. Together, we are working to empower parents, strengthen families, and create lasting change in our community.
Mothers Helping Mothers is a vital resource for parents in need, offering free clothing, baby supplies, and household essentials in a welcoming, dignified environment. But their impact extends far beyond material goods. As Cheri DeVries, Director of Mothers Helping Mothers, explains, “Our goal is to stabilize families and give them the things they need, but also to build resilience and self-sufficiency.”
This shared vision is what makes our partnership so meaningful. Parenting Matters provides educational programs at Mothers Helping Mothers, offering parents the tools and strategies they need to navigate the challenges of raising children. From Musical Motion classes for toddlers to parenting workshops on topics like potty training, discipline, and managing tantrums, our programs give parents a space to learn, connect, and grow. As Cheri puts it, “These moms are just ready to pull their hair out, and you bring peace to this beautiful space. It helps the whole entire family.”
Our collaboration is also built on a deep understanding of the unique challenges parents face. Parenting Matters educators can refer families to Mothers Helping Mothers for essential items, while families visiting Mothers Helping Mothers can access Parenting Matters classes and support services. This approach ensures that families receive not just immediate relief, but also the long-term tools to thrive.
There are many ways to support the families we serve. Donations—whether financial or in the form of essential household items—play a crucial role in sustaining these programs. Volunteers are also a critical part of making these services possible. As Cheri notes, “We don’t just take baby clothes. We provide everything a family might need when starting over, and community support makes that possible.”
At Parenting Matters, we are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside organizations like Mothers Helping Mothers, whose dedication to uplifting families aligns so closely with our mission. Together, we are making a difference, one family at a time.
